U.S. House votes to send aid to religious institutions damaged by Hurricane Sandy despite division between church and state

Although religious institutions were eligible to petition the government for reimbursement of non-religious social services, such as soup kitchens, the apparent discrepancy in FEMA’s policy prompted the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty to declare it “discriminatory” in an eight-page report issued Tuesday.
