Today, Kristina Arriaga, Executive Director of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, expressed the Becket Fund’s condolences to the victims of the murders at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin:

“The Becket Fund extends its deepest condolences to the families of the murder victims and to the entire Sikh community. Although the facts are still unclear, it appears that this horrific crime was a deliberate attack on Sikhs because they are Sikhs. The Becket Fund deplores this attack on a house of worship. This is an attack not just on one temple, but on the religious liberty of Sikhs and every other American. We urge every American—including especially responsible government officials—to stand up for the right of religious minorities to practice their religion in freedom and in peace.”

The Becket Fund has long represented Sikh clients in cases in the United States and abroad.
