I can’t imagine a better place to be a lawyer. Each day I am privileged to represent incredible, sincere clients; I work with smart, humble, and dedicated colleagues; and I get to advocate for religious freedom for people of all faiths. What could be better?

– Diana, Senior Counsel

Becket seeks one to two outstanding attorneys to join our Washington, D.C. team in defending religious liberty for people of all faiths. Becket attorneys have argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, published articles in premier academic journals, and appeared in countless television, radio, and other media interviews. Becket works hard to ensure that all attorneys receive opportunities to grow and advance in their career. As one testament to the high job satisfaction at Becket, the average tenure of the attorneys at Becket is over nine years.

An ideal applicant will have: (a) appellate clerkship experience; (b) between two and ten years of litigation experience (at least some appellate experience preferred); and (c) excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Law firm and government experience is also a plus. We do not hire applicants directly out of law school, but recent law clerks and law school graduates are welcome to apply for our Constitutional Law Fellowship.

Applicants should send a cover letter detailing their interest in Becket and their demonstrated commitment to religious liberty along with a resume, writing sample, law school transcript (if graduated in the last five years), and list of three references to Meg Schilling at mschilling@becketlaw.org. Compensation is commensurate with experience; Becket offers a competitive salary and benefits package to all employees.

Becket is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate in its hiring practices and, in order to build the strongest possible workforce, actively seeks a diverse applicant pool.
