Constitutional Law Fellow
Peter Torstensen joined Becket in 2019 as a Constitutional Law Fellow. Prior to joining Becket, Peter clerked for the Honorable Margaret A. “Meg” Ryan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. From 2016 to 2018, he was a litigator at Arnold & Porter in New York, NY, where he worked on products liability, securities, and general commercial litigation matters.
Peter received his J.D. magna cum laude from Notre Dame Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review. While in law school, he wrote and published a student note analyzing the constitutional foundations of the Seminole Rock doctrine and a case summary evaluating the development of the Supreme Court’s Confrontation Clause jurisprudence. Prior to law school, Peter spent time as both a high school English teacher and a tax accountant. Before that, he received a B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
In his free time, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and golden retriever, golfing, and writing short stories.
