Mary Clare joined The Becket Fund in 2024 as a Fellow to support the firm’s strategic research and government affairs work. She keeps tabs on legislation and federal regulations that may impact Becket’s clients and helps oversee the annual Religious Freedom Index.

At Notre Dame, Mary Clare majored in the Program of Liberal Studies, an interdisciplinary Great Books curriculum, and minored in Constitutional Studies. As a Kennedy Research Scholar, she has defended her research to faculty at Durham University, partnered with the RAND Corporation to analyze the economic effects of refugees abroad, and conducted archival research at the University of Cambridge for her senior thesis. Prior to joining Becket, Mary Clare interned at her local Catholic Charities branch to support their immigration and asylum legal team.

When she is not burrowing her nose into a book, Mary Clare can often be found practicing piano, scouring the city for live jazz, trying her hand at poetry, or strolling the city green spaces.
